Tiān Qi & the dispersion of Granthi Knots

One of my favourite words is elegance, and, in the right hands, is the essence, the epitome, of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture, gently and elegantly, helps to disperse what feels tight, soften what appears fixed, and shift what is stuck or stagnant, especially within the subtle realms of the human body. The subtle realms contain emotion, thoughts, feelings, memories, and the energetic threads connecting the web of life. The inner essence of the practitioner assists in the way the Acupuncture treatment is expressed, influencing the patient experience and whether this is received elegantly, or not.

The Sanskrit (ancient language of India and Hinduism) word granthi means ‘knot’ or ‘doubt’ and also means ‘an especially difficult knot to untie’. Granthi is an impediment to the passage of Pranic/Qi flow along the Sushumna Nadi (central energetic column) where we find the Chakras (spinning wheels or vortices of information and energy). Granthi’s hold life force in the body as a means to help us navigate through each stage of spiritual learning. They can tighten or become blocked as a result of belief patterns or challenging life experiences.

It is a privilege to witness the dispersion of granthi’s, especially when released in profound or dramatic ways.

T and I have had a professional relationship for over a decade. She has been attending regular treatments every 6 - 8 weeks and we have chosen Esoteric Acupuncture as the foundation for our sessions. In common we have our love of spiritual inquiry, meditation, yoga and nature immersion. During our relationship we have shared many personal and emotionally raw experiences, however none as dramatic and intense as what occurred on this particular day.

The potency of what occurred was potentially bolstered by the following events. T is recently back from a solo hike in Tasmania, Confest and a potent Letting Go Meditation held by renowned Healer Jason Parkes. This was my first day back to work from 2 weeks camping and climbing in the rainforest and I had just finished teaching an Antahkarana Meditation class, a high potency spiritual activation. T was my first patient for the day and less than 30 minutes after being in the luminous Antahkarana space.

Interesting to note that joining us in the treatment room this day was junior clinic assistant, E, which made the clinic environment a little more formal than usual.

The session proceeded as normal, consultation followed by cupping, an upper Esoteric Acupuncture grid plus lower body points to balance the treatment. At this stage, everything felt very standard. Turning over and the new encoding pattern for the front was intuitively selected, Tree of Life Heart. Perfect. I asked E to please read me the points, mostly so that she felt involved and familiarising with reading the acupuncture point names in Pinyin.

Tiān Man Esoteric DU-20 ~ ‘Celestial Fullness’

Shen Men ~ auricular point for parasympathetic nervous system (right and left)

Tiān Rong S.I-17 ~ ‘Celestial Contents’ (right and left)

Tiān Qi REN-24 ~ ‘Celestial Pool’

Tiānfǔ LU-3 ~ ‘Celestial Storehouse’ (right and left)

Yuan Jian REN-17 ~ ‘The Source’ (more commonly known as Dan Zhong)

Ju Que REN-14 ~ ‘Great Palace Gateway’

As an acupuncturist, I try to be ultra sensitive to the needs of my patients and sometimes you feel like needling Tiān Qi, and sometimes you don’t. Tiān Qi is above the chin, in the depression in the centre of the mentolabial groove and a very sensitive area to needle. On this occasion I chose instead to use a sacred essential oil blend, purposefully made for me by a gifted Healer friend.

As soon as I placed the oil upon the chin point the energy in the room shifted. I came around to T’s side and she quietly said “oh .. the chin point” and her body began to gently shake. She described the front of her body feeling like rivers of water and she began to become visibly upset. Her body continued to shake, more and more violently, something profound was beginning to take place. I felt calm yet alert and vigilant and was guided to stand at her feet, gently holding her ankles for support and grounding. I focused upon my breath, connecting with the Earth through the points on the soles of the feet, Yǒngquǎn KID-1 Bubbling Spring, lifting my toes and placing them purposefully, one by one. I remained centred, calm and quiet. Within moments T was loudly sobbing, shaking, wailing, an expression of raw emotion no longer able to be held or contained.

Minutes later this outpouring was not subsiding, nor looking as though it was going to, so I asked E if she would like to please leave the room.

The final point in the Tree of Life Heart pattern is Ju Que REN-14 ‘Great Palace’ and this was still left to be needled. I came around to T’s side and held one palm over her navel at the Karmic release / trauma release points and the other palm at Shàngxīng Du-23 ~ ‘Upper Star’. Shàngxīng connects to the intracranial Brahmarandhra Chakra, where the Brahma Nadi & Sushumna Nadi meet, its a deeply nourishing point for calming the mind.

When you hold someone, especially during a healing session or if you are comforting someone while they are upset, first activate the point on your palm Láogōng PC-8 ~ ‘Palace of Toil’ (diagram below). This is the Fire point on the Pericardium channel and you will notice an increase in healing flow and energetic potency through your palms, if you are sensitive to that vibration.

Holding these points for T did absolutely nothing to change her experience or to settle her in any way. When someone is having a dramatic episode it can completely unsettle or unravel those present and it is very tempting to want to hurry that person along, to make them feel better, to make it stop. I watched myself from the Observer position and consciously chose to do no such thing. All I needed to do was hold the space. At this time I gently spoke to T, reminding her that she was safe, and that she was loved. Later she reported back that at that precise moment she had been silently thanking me for holding professional healing space for her, allowing time for her grief and pain to be expressed.

After a considerable time it became apparent that the treatment was clearing very deep and traumatic experiences and potentially those not only from this lifetime. The pain was feeling ancestral. I used my tuning fork 528Hz which is attuned to the Heart Chakra, peace, clarity and heart-centredness, as well as helping clear or expedite the removal of any attachments. This was when T announced she felt a ‘gremlin’ at her solar plexus, and we worked together, with breath, sound, clarity and healing intention, to clear any negative etheric substances. T’s body continued to shake violently and she had not stopped sobbing or wailing throughout the entire time. I moved intuitively around her body, holding points and areas as I was guided to do so. I held my ground and stayed calm. Finally it felt time to needle Jù Quē REN-14 ~ ‘Great Palace Gateway’ & Mu (front access) point of Heart and slowly, slowly .. things began to settle down.

Thank you for reading. This was such an extreme reaction to Acupuncture to experience and one that provoked much contemplation for us both. We strongly feel that two granthi knots were dispersed, at the Heart and at the Solar Plexus, as well as sending healing threads down the ancestral line, clearing entities and so much more that is beyond language to describe. It was an honour to share this experience. When energy is ready to shift, it is ready, and I am humbled to be a witness to this healing in motion.

🍁 Autumn Equinox ~ the balanced interplay between Yin & Yang 🍃

🖤🤍 Beautiful Humans 🤍🖤
The balanced interplay between Universal Light/Yang/Sun and Darkness/Yin/Moon, and the way we experience it on Earth, is now 🍁 (Wednesday 20th March 2024)

🍃 The word “Equinox” comes from Latin and means “equal night,” referring to the 12hr day & 12hr night that occurs only on the two Equinox days of the year. Supreme cosmic balance ⚖️

🍂 On the Equinox we honour this ultimate Universal balance and interaction of the Light/warmth/action/Yang energies with the Dark/cool/mysterious/Yin, and invoke a sense of gratitude for the gentle unfolding that comes with the Seasonal change.

🍃 Spend this time in mindfulness, consciously linking your awareness and the cycles of nature to your own life experiences. Where are you at?

🍂 Your inner work practices can benefit from this #ultimatebalance by working with Heaven / Earth, Sun / Moon, Yin / Yang and your pranayama practices of Sama Vritti One (equilibrated counting breath) and Sama Vritti Two (box breath).

🍃 When we clear our internal ground, we can be comfortable with silence, stillness, quietude and rest. Become quiet, listen to what is creatively emerging from within yourself 🌱

Happy International Day of Peace 🕊️

Happy International Day of Peace 🕊️

Every spiritual tradition anywhere in the world teaches the value of being present. Being present with your thoughts, to the needs of your body, to each moment, your relationship within nature, and being present with your breath.

Buddhism has many beautiful things to teach us on this topic and my

favourite peace activist is Thich Nhat Hahn.

“Dwelling happily and peacefully in the present moment is the best thing we can do to ensure peace and happiness in the future.”

“Live the actual moment. Only this moment is life.”

~ Thich Nhat Hahn

📿

In its purest essence,

BE HERE NOW, with LOVE

My family tease me about it but I really don’t like people being mean to each other.

And about 30 years ago, I decided that if I was going to be an effective Healer in my Community, then watching the ‘news’ was not going to be a peaceful option for me.

Once a year however I do get to see the news, when I visit my parents in Queensland. As far as I can tell, I’m still not missing anything. Murder, violence, blood shed, people being mean to each other. Infinite human suffering.

My parents just say they don’t worry about it, they don’t notice it.

Think about that.

One evening I was cooking dinner whilst they were watching. I asked them to please turn it off, because when you make food for others, you are weaving your thoughts and feelings into the very food which your loved ones are then going to digest. What are you watching or listening to as you prepare your meals? What else is your family ‘digesting’?

Have a think about that, on a global scale.

World Peace begins with you, and your family, in your home.

🌿🕊️📿

Subsequently all this ‘news’ watching helped me notice that I was feeling unsettled. Significantly wary and nervous in public. More tension in my body, face and jaw. I was far far away from, BE HERE NOW. I was in Story, everyone could be dangerous, and I felt very unsettled. And if I am feeling unsettled, then guaranteed other folks are as well.

Whenever you’re feeling unsettled, fearful or ungrounded, stop what you are doing, be still, come to your breath and your heart. FEEL.

Step One ~ be here now

Come into this present moment by grounding your feet, and gently lifting and lengthening your spine. Balance yourself between Heaven and Earth. Open your senses, what can you hear, taste, see, feel and smell. Senses bring us back to the moment. Learning how cultivate inner peace and stillness so that we may be an anchor for others is a gift beyond measure.

Step Two ~ anchor your breath

Close your lips breathe in through your nose, as you breath out create a gentle sensation of hugging your windpipe to create a softly audible sigh. Notice how your sigh sounds like the ocean, or like the inside of a sea shell. The simple act of listening to your breath can become a place of refuge. Connection to breath is a soothing and intimate experience.

Step Three ~ align with your heart

The ‘news’, fear, violence and negativity will sadly always be a part of life. Learning the practice of leading the mind, breath and heart into Stories of compassion, gratitude, forgiveness, empathy, and love, helps tip the scale, helps bring balance and healing to suffering. Remind yourself that you are a Soul having an Earthly experience and that lessons and challenges will always be there. Life is more than just surviving.. its learning how to positively thrive 🌻

🌿🕊️📿

Did you also know that the posture of your tongue is an integral part of bringing the above 3 steps into alignment? If you are a patient of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine then you are accustomed to your practitioner asking to see your tongue so that they may discern your Pattern of Disharmony and treatment plan.

In Pranayama, tongue posture is called Jivha Mudra and and technique to stoke the lymphatics via the tongue is called Jivha Bandha.  The blogpost before this one discusses the fascinating topic of the importance of your tongue, for diagnosis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine and successful Pranayama practice!

🧘🏽🧘🏼‍♀️

Thanks so much for being here.

Transmuting, fear and violence into love and forgiveness isn't easy.

Pranayama ~ Jivha Mudra and Jivha Bandha

Pranayama ~ Jivha Mudra and Jivha Bandha

it is believed that when you place your tongue against the roof of your mouth, it activates a subtle energy system within your body. This system includes energy channels called nadis and energy centers known as chakras. By creating this connection, called Jivha Mudra or tongue posture, it is thought that the flow of life force energy, or prana, is directed and channeled more effectively throughout the body. This practice can therefore help bring balance and harmony to the entire energy system.

Twelve Support the One point location video

In this short video we discuss the acupuncture points for the Twelve Support the One, Esoteric Acupuncture New Encoding Pattern & in our next video we will enjoy the Meditation with some Pranayama breathwork💫

The Twelve represents the 12 petals of your Heart Chakra ~ Anahata, while the One refers to the luminous Light of your Soul.

The most obvious difference noted whilst meditating upon this pattern was the sheer depth of Stillness. At one stage I actually felt as though I could hear the Earth moving through space, it was that profound! For me, that feeling occurred during the final phase of the sequence, the Siman Fourfold Window.

I love this pattern so much as it became a signpost for me, letting me know that my life was indeed on the right path. That overcoming my shyness & training as a meditation & breathwork teacher, after decades of healing work in private one-to-one practice as an acupuncturist, was the right thing to do.

That sharing my personal story of working with new encoding patterns combined with meditation & breathwork wasn't weird, it was a helpful & important contribution that speaks to the right people.

Enjoy & let me know how you go!

Celestial Tuning Fork Yang ~ Point Location video

Dr Sankey writes that when the frequencies of the body are vibrating at the correct harmonious rate, an environment is created that will not allow exogenous pathogenic factors to obtain a foothold in the physical body. Only when the environment of the physical body is weak and out of alignment will negative energies such as bacteria, viruses, moles, fungi and other unwanted pathogens thrive in the body.

So.. What IS an acupuncture point?!

'What do you think your acupuncturist actually DOING during your treatment?', is one of my favourite questions to ask. This interesting topic provokes consideration (& therefore a deeper experience of), your Energetic Anatomy, your energy channels, your energy field, Chakras and how detailed, complex & incredibly miraculous you really are.

Collectively this awareness assists in raising your vibration and when you raise your individual vibration, you are also helping to raise the vibration of the Planet, making the world a much better place!

In this short video we ask 'What even IS an acupuncture point'?! We describe how to find acupuncture points & what to focus your attention & intention upon when practicing Esoteric Acupuncture Meditation.

Like anything worthwhile, becoming sensitive enough to actually FEEL acupuncture points & the information contained within will most likely take some practice! Building sensitivity in your hands (especially if you are a healer or body worker) & cultivating Qi at the site of each point during your Esoteric Acupuncture Meditation practice using intention & mindfulness will greatly expand your spiritual awareness, IF you devote yourself to this beautiful practice.

✨Celestial Tuning Fork Yin Meditation✨

The Celestial Tuning Fork Yin is an Esoteric Acupuncture New Encoding Pattern designed to align you with the energies of love and of nature, whilst attuning your own unique spiritual frequency, your signature tone.

Traditionally, New Encoding Patterns are to be installed & activated via acupuncture needles, tuning forks, swords of light or other healing tools. Earlier this year I began a meditation project showcasing one New Encoding Pattern per month across all my meditation classes and its been super helpful healing fun! So instead of needles or tools we are using the focused mind and our intention for spiritual healing and mindfulness meditation.

The project began in February 2022 with this pattern, one of my favourites, the Celestial Tuning Fork Yin. This beautiful esoteric acupuncture pattern was chosen because as your mind follows down the sequence to the lower belly points, you might find the deep stillness quite palpable and the feeling of the pattern against your body gently nurturing. This may take many attempts. Keep going, you are so worth it!

Give it a try & as always, let me know how you go!
